VIATeC is pleased to announce the appointment of new staff member Michelle Gaetz to the position of Office Administrator and the appointment of Office Manager Ellen Henry to a new role as the Director of Operations and Member Relations.

As Office Administrator, Michelle is the first point of contact with VIATeC members and the public, and her background in the local technology community will be most helpful with the upcoming Island Tech and Food Bank Challenge events.

In Ellen’s new role, she will be responsive to the needs and concerns of membership while continuing her work overseeing the financial and operational aspects of VIATeC.

“These appointments further strengthen the VIATeC team,” said Dan Gunn, VIATeC Executive Director. “with Ellen’s entrepreneurial background and previous experience at a membership based organization, she possesses a great understanding of our members’ needs. Michelle brings skills in multiple aspects of office administration and a depth of knowledge of the technology community.”

Michelle obtained a degree from UBC in Biology with a major in Genetics. Michelle’s professional roles included work in the lab, project management, staff supervision and administration. She comes to VIATeC after seven years at CellFor, a VIATeC Technology Award winner.

Ellen has a diverse background as a small business owner, including operating an art gallery on Lower Johnson Street. Ellen came to VIATeC after spending three years as Executive Assistant at Tourism Victoria.
